Our Vision

Fully-Formed Disciples:

Grace Baptist Church believes that our discipleship journey begins with justification (being made right with God) and then proceeds to sanctification (being made holy or into the image of Christ), which makes up the rest of the Christian life before we are glorified (united with Christ in heaven). Our Christian life on earth then consists of being continually formed to look more like Jesus Christ. (Eph 4:11-16) A fully-formed disciple of Jesus, then, is something we aspire to, but we will not achieve this side of glorification.

Discipleship has become a ‘catchall’ term that means different things for different people.

“Disciple is an identity; everything else is a role.” (Jonathan Dodson – Gospel-Centered Discipleship) We desire that disciples at Grace live, learn, and communicate the gospel in all aspects of their lives.

Biblical Preaching and Teaching:

Grace Baptist Church believes that the Bible is God's inspired Word. It is without error, authoritative in all of its claims, and sufficient to make men and women wise for salvation. (2 Tim 3:16)

All preaching and teaching at Grace seeks to be Biblically founded and faithful to the Word of God.

Grace Baptist Church is committed to Expository preaching and teaching, that is, explaining the text of Scripture.

Engaged Worship:

Grace Baptist Church believes disciples of Jesus are called to present their bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is their spiritual worship. Grace does this weekly through the public reading of Scripture, public prayer, the proclamation of the Word of God through preaching, and the corporate singing of Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. (Col 3:15-17; Rom 12:1)

Grace believes that God desires disciples of Jesus to be active participants in worship and not simply spectators. We believe that disciples of Jesus are called to worship together corporately to stir one another up to love and good works. (Heb 10:24-25)

Grace also believes that disciples of Jesus are called to worship privately through personal and family devotions, and we desire to equip them to do so.

Compelling Community:

Grace Baptist Church believes that disciples of Jesus are called to live in Biblical community with other believers. (Acts 2:42-47)

We believe that each member is an integral part of the body of Christ and that the church needs every person to fulfill its God-given mission and vision of developing fully formed disciples of Jesus Christ.

There are several avenues at Grace Baptist Church to pursue community, but this is primarily achieved through participation in Groups at Grace.

Intentional Outreach:

Grace Baptist Church believes that our God desires all people to be saved and come to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ (1 Tim 2:4). We also believe that disciples of Jesus are called to “seek the welfare of the city”. Finally, God calls us to be His witnesses in Jerusalem (Woodbridge), Judea (Prince William County), Samaria (United States), and to the ends of the earth. (Jer 29:5-7; Mat 28:18-20)

We believe that each member of Grace Baptist Church is to serve as an “ambassador for Christ”, called and equipped by God to share the gospel and participate in God’s “ministry of reconciliation” in the world. (2 Cor 5:18-20).

This ministry of reconciliation is displayed locally as members of Grace Baptist Church “seek the welfare of the city” in multiple ways, which involve regular evangelism to the lost, service to the community's poor and vulnerable through both through our time and finances, and active work for Christ’s glory in their jobs and neighborhoods.

Members of Grace Baptist Church can live as witnesses to Christ and engage in reaching the nations with the gospel through participating in mission trips (local, domestic & global), financially supporting missionaries or being a part of the Grace Missions team. (Acts 1:8).
