Volunteers
May I volunteer in VBS if I do not attend Grace Baptist Church?
Yes, but please let us know the days that you will not be present when you register or email
at a later date to inform us.
At what age may students volunteer for VBS?
Students may volunteer if they have completed 6th grade and complete the student requirements to volunteer in Children’s Ministry at Grace Baptist Church.
I am a first-time volunteer. What do I have to do?
Adults:
Complete the Children’s Ministry volunteer application and a background check
Attend a Child Protection Training Class
Attend a VBS Training Meeting to learn about the theme and job specific tasks.
Students:
Complete the Children’s Ministry volunteer application
Attend a VBS Training Meeting to learn about the theme, job-specific tasks.
Will childcare be provided for training sessions?

Who has to attend Child Protection Training?
Adults must attend Child Protection Training. Online training option is available.
Students do not have to attend Child Protection Training if they are under 18.
How are volunteers assigned to positions?
We do our best to place volunteers in their preferred area.

May my child attend if he/she cannot be present every day?

How do I correct or change information in my child’s registration?

How are Elementary children placed in groups? May I request that my Elementary child be placed with specific friends or with a specific leader?
Please include any special requests for placement when you register. We do our best to place children in the groups they have requested. You may email

My child has food allergies. How do I get information about the snacks that will be served?
If you inform us of your child’s food allergies before VBS, you will be emailed a list of the planned snacks for the week. If you need more specific information about ingredients, please email

During VBS
Why do I need to show the safety card I was given to pick up my child?
For your child's protection only designated adults may pick up your child. This is proof to the group leader that your child is leaving with the adult of your choice. If you have lost your safety cards, please bring a picture ID and see the Registration Team in the lobby adjacent to the Worship Center.
May another adult or sibling pick up my child?
Yes. Give the adult that you authorize to pick up your child the safety card that was given to you with the child’s name tag. A sibling must be at least 15 years old and have the safety card to pick up their brother or sister at dismissal.
I forgot to bring the safety card with me to pick up my child. What do I do?
Bring your picture ID and go to the Registration area in the lobby adjacent to the Worship Center to obtain another safety card.
How should my child be dressed for VBS?
We ask that all children wear athletic shoes to VBS. No Flip Flops. There will be recreation time for all children. Elementary school-age children will be outside running, playing games. Please apply sunscreen and/or insect repellent if your child requires this protection when being outside. Our volunteers are not allowed to apply sunscreen and/or insect repellent.
What if my child becomes sick or injured during VBS? How will I be notified?
You will be contacted using the information given at registration, and 911 will be called if it is an emergency. Please ensure that we have two emergency contacts and correct contact information.
What do I need to do if I need to pick up my child before dismissal at 12:00PM?
Come to Building A, Registration area, and we will locate and bring your child to you.
How may I get a message to my child during VBS?

What do I do if my child leaves or loses a personal item during VBS?
